Abstract explorations

French artists

Anne Zablot is a contemporary French artist who lives and works in Saint Laurent de Prée, near La Rochelle, France. She paints both in oil and acrylics, however, the artist is also passionate about photography, sculptures, monotypes, and collages.

In Nantes, Anne Zablot studied painting under two postwar French painters - Joël Dabin and Paul Dauce. In Paris, she enrolled in art classes at the Beaux-Arts de Glacier in Martin Bissere's studio. Influenced by Daniel Lacomme, Ben Ami Koller and Willem de Kooning whose impact on her works cannot be missed. Zablot's artwork echos two trends: lyrical abstraction and abstract expressionism. She names her works using words that come from the language of the tribes such as Hopi, Cherokee, and Algonquin in order to preserve the primitive mystery of abstraction and to give everyone unlimited access to re-discovering her artworks.

Looking at her paintings we can see how strong and intense her relationship with colours is and how she profoundly is aware of the relationship colours have with each other. There are no random brushstrokes in her painting. Every move is well planned and foreseen. Her artworks distinguish simplicity and enormous energy that can be almost felt. Daniel Lacomme - an established contemporary visual artist once said that Zablot's paintings drive the attention by their colours inviting people to the feast of art.

Anne Zablot's works are in many private collections in France, Italy, Spain and in the States. She exhibited at the Biennale Arts Atlantic, La Rochelle, and at the Art Show 2022, Temporary Grand Palais, Paris.
