Presentation
Self-taught artist Yoann MERIENNE received the gold medal of Wallonie's International Art Competition at the age of 13. One of his portraits captivated the jury….
In 2009, he got a Diploma of Industrial Design and went in Australia for one year. After this break, Yoann took the decision to devote himself to his art : painting. His sense of detail, the intensity of his drawing and the light and shadow effects are some of the elements that make his unrivalled talent.
We can easily feel emotions like love, joy, fear or regret even if sometimes it's difficult to grasp separatly all those emotions, because they are all mixed together. The artist's wish is to elaborate a face which express those feelings. To do it, some artists used music notes and others prefer danses' moves. Yoanns' way is brush strokes.
"Solitudes or dialogues
Dreams stopped
Fighting or motions
Speed or silence"
For Yoann, being an artist means searching for human comprehension. He doesn't want to impose an accurate perception of his work to his public. He just want to share it. "Being" and "feeling" are at the heart of his painting, without artifice.
