“The exaggerated shapes, sometimes almost abstract or suggested, are a ghostly lace made of faces. I orient my work around questioning women, their bodies and more generally the fragility of life. Before wax and bronze, I first work with clay. Each step of this process, from modeling to cooking, is sensual and sensitive. A spiritual opportunity to be able to knead your original material. For the Fossils series, I created pieces imagining aliens making a discovery a few thousand years from now. The earth would have become, like a Pompeii of the future, a place where we would be nothing more than pretty fossils lying around. Would these visitors then understand our expressions of astonishment, through our “calcified” remains, astounded, even though our end arrived without surprise, with full knowledge of the facts? »
