Freedom of movement and the power of materials are my sources of creation.
Biography
Born in Algiers in 1978, Arsène Odin, whose real name is Hacène Baïtiche, arrived in France and developed a passion for drawing and manga. He became a professional in collective comics. Years later, he decided to radically change mediums out of a thirst for total creative freedom.
He will enter the Faculty of Plastic Arts of Valenciennes which allows him to integrate the design of work and to consolidate his competence in art history. What brings him to abstract expressionist art is his training in the art of Japanese Bonsai. He will grasp its aesthetic codes while working on Chinese painting and Sumi-e. His encounter with the works of Kazuo Shiraga will give him a graphic shock. His concept of calligraphic movement will then be born from his passion for the line as well as the abstract expression of movement.
The freedom of movement and the power of the material will provide him with an experimental breeding ground. He will draw on his cultural and graphic roots in order to propose a visceral creation with a universal language.
