Biography
Marina, aka MB-Art, was born in 1983 in Bastia, Corsica, where she still lives and creates today. A self-taught artist, she discovered painting nearly five years ago, at a pivotal moment in her life. A personal upheaval and health problems led her to reinvent her daily life and seek, in the act of creating, a space of freedom and resilience. Painting then became for her an essential means of expression, a language where emotions, strengths, and flaws can be expressed.
Starting with simple sketches, Marina gradually develops a unique visual universe, imbued with energy and spontaneity. Her style, resolutely pop art, is part of an iconic tradition that she reinvents with freshness. MB-Art draws its inspiration from the collective imagination: figures from popular culture like The Simpsons, Scrooge McDuck, or the Pink Panther populate her canvases with humor, tenderness and sometimes irreverence. These familiar icons become, under her brush, the mirrors of moods, suspended moments, colorful reveries.
Each MB-Art work is a vividly captured fragment of emotion. Her work is instinctive, driven by a desire to connect, to arouse gratitude, a smile, and sometimes nostalgia. The vibrant, bold color becomes the vehicle for a communicative vitality. Beyond the apparent lightness of her motifs, Marina subtly explores the issues of escape, inner refuge, and art's ability to sublimate trials.
Working in a free, almost visceral manner, MB-Art asserts a sincere, generous style of painting, where resilience becomes creation. Today, she continues on her path with renewed energy, faithful to her initial approach: transforming personal experience into bursts of life, humor, and hope, inscribed on canvas.
