Bronze Sculpture for Sale
Sensitive to an uncertain social environment, Chantal Rougier seeks to question and exchange on the emotions felt.
Because dialogue gives way to invective, she favours a painting that promotes reflection and exchange.
Raised by a father who was a painter and musician, she remained throughout her professional life in search of truth and inspiration to deepen her testimony. For the past 15 years, she has focused on painting, where she transcribes her feelings and reactions, and her need to share.
Before the canvas, the gestation is slow. She seeks inspiration to discover the criteria for behavior that correspond to an ethical ideal and to establish on the canvas the link between emotions and spirituality. She strives for a rigorous composition, derived from those used by the great masters since the Renaissance. She most often chooses tones from the three primary colors. After two to three months, her gestures become more rapid. With brushes and palette knives, forms clash in colorful fugues. She then adopts Georges Braque's quote: "I like the line that corrects emotion; I like the emotion that corrects the line." She appropriates the space of the painting, its depth, seeking to capture a fleeting spatial ambiguity.
What a joy it is when a viewer stops in front of a painting. Not just to say "I like it" or "I don't like it." When they move forward, back away, walk away and come back.
