MAURICE LORD

France • 1947

He merely reveals them and transforms them to give them a second life that scholars call "Art Brut".

Biography

Raised near the Saint-Ouen flea market, Maurice Lord was immersed from a very early age in a world teeming with objects and encounters that taught him to marvel and to discover the hidden value of things.
A self-taught artist from a family of scrap metal dealers and antique dealers, he acquired the ability to reveal beauty in all kinds of objects he salvages, which eventually form an eclectic collection of metal, wood, and fabrics that have had a previous life. He simply reveals and transforms them, giving them a second life that scholars call "Art Brut."
