Loriane Raso

Loriane Raso (b. 1982, Cannes, France) is a French contemporary artist whose practice is rooted in gesture, materiality and the symbolic power of everyday objects. From an early age, she developed a deep sensitivity to craftsmanship and manual creation, laying the foundations for a highly physical and intuitive artistic language.

After working in the social sector and pursuing a career in music, a serious road accident in 2008 profoundly altered the course of her life. This pivotal experience transformed her relationship with time, the body and artistic expression, becoming a defining element of her creative journey.

Shortly afterwards, the artist Joseph invited her to join his studio, initiating a collaboration that continues to this day. Immersed in an environment of daily artistic practice, technical transmission and creative dialogue, Raso gradually developed her own distinctive visual language while refining an approach based on discipline, experimentation and the expressive potential of materials.

Her work explores the fragility and value of contemporary symbols through sculptural series such as the Vanités and the Boxes, where materials—particularly banknotes—are transformed into poetic and philosophical objects. Far from their economic function, these familiar elements become carriers of memory, desire, impermanence and human experience.

Balancing conceptual reflection with a deeply tactile approach, Loriane Raso creates works that invite viewers to question the notions of wealth, identity, consumption and the passage of time. Her practice is distinguished by its sensitivity, precision and quiet emotional intensity, positioning her among a new generation of French artists who transform everyday materials into powerful contemporary narratives.
