Clément Thuault transforms the city into a sensitive territory, where reflections, movements, and visual accidents tip reality towards the imaginary.

Biography

Clément Thuault is a French photographer based in Paris. His practice explores the boundary between street photography, abstraction, and visual experimentation.

The city constitutes his main field of research. Rather than documenting it, he seeks to reveal a more instinctive and subjective perception of it. Reflections, shop windows, puddles, movements, blurs, prisms, and superimpositions become means to fragment reality and bring forth images at the border of the dream.

His work is based on a tension between preparation and chance. Some images arise from a precise idea, while others appear by chance on a street, in a light, or an unexpected encounter. This element of accident is essential to his approach: photography becomes a unique instant, without the possibility of replaying the scene exactly.

Influenced notably by Man Ray, Saul Leiter, Brassaï, Daido Moriyama, and the cinematic universe of David Lynch, Clément Thuault develops a photography where silhouettes dissolve, perspectives overlap, and cities become almost mental.

His work has been presented in several exhibitions in France and internationally, notably in Paris, London, New York, and Tokyo. Through his different series, he pursues the same research: to transform the everyday into a visual and poetic experience, and to show what the eye does not always notice at first glance.
