Bronze Sculpture for Sale
After classical training at the Beaux-Arts workshops of the City of Paris, Marie-Dominique Willemot broke away from figurative art, forging her own path toward a subjective abstraction. This abstraction possesses a deeply personal duality, oscillating between what she calls her "Forms" and her "Impressions." Her forms are drawn, precise, and organic, while her impressions are more diffuse, akin to abstract impressionism. These two series are quite distinct and reveal two facets of the same artist's style. Color and the interplay of textures remain the guiding thread of her work. Marie-Dominique Willemot's works are anything but indifferent; they symbolically convey emotions or moments in life. The environment and the sea are also recurring themes. This is what gives meaning to her works and engages the viewer. It is a painting that is resolutely hedonistic and positive.
Marie-Dominique Willemot is undeniably influenced by masters like Henri Matisse but also by Nicky de Saint Phalle, Gaudi, Dubuffet, Olivier Debré, Simon Hantaï as well as by Aboriginal painting.
Her works are exhibited and recognized in major Parisian salons as well as abroad. Her work has received awards from the National Art Center in Tokyo. Very active in France, she is a member of the Board of Directors of the historic Salon d'Automne in Paris, an exhibitor at the Salon Comparaisons at the Grand Palais, and an active member of the highly selective Hélium association, representing professional artists in the Chevreuse Valley.
