Biography

Catherine Azaïs, PhD in photo-physics in Nancy is attracted very young by the artistic creation. Throughout her life, wherever she lives, she paints in artists' studios. In Marseille, she exhibited in a collective at Salon de Provence and received the first gouache prize (Salon de Roquevaire 1993).

During her 18-year expatriation in Mexico and Spain, she decided to move full-time to painting in search of a pictorial concept. She exhibited with a Mexican collective (Encinos, Toluca Estado de Mexico, 1997) and Spanish Bocallave (A pedir de Boca, Valladolid 2009). At that time his paintings are conceptual or traditional. Already the color is very present.

In Madrid, she paints and exhibits for 3 years at the Taller del Prado. Every year she participates in "pintura rapida" competitions. At this time, his learning of "pintura al natural" and grisaille allows him to define his physical space. In Lille she asserts herself towards paintings with preeminence of colors.

In Biarritz, she exhibited with Question d'Art in 2014 and 2015, at the Ducontenia show (Saint Jean de Luz, 2016) and at the Cité de ARTS in Bayonne (under the chair la liane, 2017). Currently, she seeks to translate an essence or the expression of a presence in her painting using the movement, the gesture of the brush and relying on its extensive range of color. The lines are deliberately absent in the realization of his communication and often his dog serves him as a muse.
