Biography

Born of a father of Spanish origin and a French mother, Henri Cueco studied painting with his father Vicente in Uzerche, then remained self-taught. He came to Paris from 1947, and came into contact with the painters of La Ruche, who turned to realism. He began his artistic career by participating in 1952 at the Salon de la Jeune Peinture. From this group and the artistic proliferation that will see the birth of narrative figuration, he develops a painting whose figuration participates in a political commitment attached to nature, to the relations between men and women, and to the relationship to language, written, spoken or painted and drawn.
