Benoist Van Borren is a sculptor adept at minimalism. He tames the concrete, this rough and dense material and its monolithic blocks come to life. Each of these blocks offers us an enigma to decipher: children of a mathematical abstraction guided by an elusive golden ratio, geometric games fruit of the imagination of an architect with the soul of an artist, cases of an unconscious subversive that questions our gaze. All is order and hieratic beauty in this silent gallery. The dense and massive blocks of Benoist testify to the strength of his attraction for an art that is complex in its conception and skilfully refined in its appearance. (Laure Dellu)
