Presentation

Romanian artist and graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Brussels, Ramona Russu moved to Corsica in 2014. Inspired by the beauty and multitude of riches and Corsican symbols, it is in Bastia that she continues to cultivate her creative universe.

In search of beauty, meaning and symbols, Ramona's works combine her admiration for the feminine silhouette with her passion for a graphic and monochrome aesthetic. In her creations, these elements come together and tell the visual story of contemporary women, in a surrealist, graphic and poetic style.

Ramona's pieces are a perfect balance between pure decoration and genuine emotion.
Inspired by the religious icons of her native country Ramona embellishes her canvases with 24 karat gold leaf, symbol of light, perfection and divinity. With this creative metaphor, Ramona's works place women at the center of the discussion thus creating a silent dialogue between the art and the audience. A profoundly current dialogue on the role and importance of women in contemporary society.

Her works are present in private collections in the United States as well as across Europe and they are featured in a series of online articles and several publications among which Forbes Romania in 2015, Saatchi Fall Catalog in the United States in 2018, Art & Decoration France in 2019. In 2019 Ramona's works have been selected to represent The Annual Fall Gallery Walk in Chicago on FOX News.

Since 2020, Ramona is represented by the Gallery RED in Mallorca, an internationally renowned gallery with 12 exhibition spaces in the Balearic Islands. Her work is exhibited in the company of established artists such as Basquiat, Murakami, Andy Wharhol, Kaws, Banksy and a very talented selection of emerging names in the contemporary art scene.

In 2021 Ramona exhibits her paintings during the 13th edition of the International Biennale of Contemporary Art and Design of Florence, in the company of world-renowned artists such as Flora Borsi, Andrea Roggi, Oliviero Toscani, Michelangelo Pistoletto and "the punk queen of fashion" and activist Vivienne Westwood.
