Hubert Le Gall, born February 20, 1961 in Lyon, is a French designer, creator and sculptor of contemporary art. After economic and financial studies, Hubert Le Gall quickly took the turn in art, starting with painting. Contemporary artist, he creates poetic and functional furniture, and handles bronze. After a vegetal period, today he explores the poetic bestiary. Inspired by certain decorative forms of the past, Hubert Le Gall creates poetic and functional pieces of furniture (flowerpot armchair, Goutte d'herbe chest of drawers, etc.). He combines unusual ideas playing on shapes, light and colors. Although he works with various materials (wood, glass, resin, ceramic…), bronze remains his material of choice. He occupies a Parisian studio, nestled in a verdant artist's city in Montmartre and which was once that of the painter Bonnard. Hubert le Gall's rooms decorate trendy restaurants, private lounges and the dining room of the mayor of Paris. Since 1996, he has been exhibited at the Avant-Scène gallery. In 2001-2002 his work was shown by the Magenta gallery in Milan. Since 2002, his works have been presented by the Artcurial gallery. Many pieces have been purchased for museum collections (Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in Canada, Lille Roubaix Decorative Arts Museum). Since 2000 Hubert Le Gall has also been in charge of creating exhibition scenographies, such as that of “Mélancolie” at the Grand Palais in Paris1 or the exhibition devoted to Fragonard at the Jacquemart-André Museum.
