Presentation
Nicolas Galtier is a French painter born in 1971, he lives between French and Italy. He chose to establish his studio in Rome, not only is this city a source of inspiration for him, a place of supply for paintings and canvases, but it was in the South of France that he established his Guest House "La Galerie", where one can see his work.
Due to his taste for travels, Galtier managed to nourish his passion for letters and arts, by portraying a mix of European and Oriental culture.
From small to large formats, one can see abstract patterns with golden or silver reflection. It is through this series of "patterns", that the artist has established his work. He plays around with repetition, depicting the notion that time flies by. Represented by geometric shapes, these patterns belong to the History of Humanity that the artist summons.
By alternating images and materials that he applies as layers, Nicolas Galtier brings in light at the heart of his paintings. This feeling is reinforced by the use of precious sheets in metal, gold or silver, applied over a raw linen canvas. Color pigments are combined together, therefore giving birth to a pictorial cataclysm.
Through these complementary procedures, the artist manages to give life to his canvas, and invites his spectator to embark on a journey. In his silver paintings, and through the surface of his golden canvases, ne can find a historic dimension of antique frescoes and spirituality of gilding and religious icons.
Exhibited at Grand Palais, Nicolas Galtier participated at the Salon des Révélations in 2015 and at the « Artistes en Liberté » exhibition in 2016 at the Palais in Bondy.
