Nicolas Carrega is a painter, engraver, sculptor, tapestry cardboard maker, stained glass and French medallist born on 21 February 1914 in Bonifacio (Corsica), died on 29 January 1993 in Viroflay (Yvelines). Resolutely figurative in the 1950s, located in the group of the Jeune Peinture, his canvases, but also his engravings, present in a miserable spirit themes related to port life or religious inspiration. he then gradually turned to a lyrical abstraction not far from Pierre Soulages.
