Ekaterine Ilashvili

Ekaterine Ilashvili is a Georgian artist born in 1974 who lives and works in Tbilisi, Georgia. Her multidisciplinary practice encompasses painting, textile-based works, and art jewelry. She graduated from the Apollon Kutateladze Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, where she specialized in textile design, an education that continues to inform her distinctive approach to surface, line, rhythm, and material. Working across watercolor, acrylic, gouache, and pastel, Ilashvili develops layered compositions that move between figuration and abstraction. Her paintings evoke dreamlike psychological landscapes in which human figures, animals, flowers, architectural fragments, and organic forms emerge and dissolve within translucent fields of color. Through processes of layering, erasure, repetition, and transformation, she creates images that resist fixed interpretation and invite associations with memory, intuition, and the subconscious.
