Natalia Röckle

Germany • 1979

I am interested in how forms emerge, overlap, and disappear within a larger whole, and how each layer continues to shape what remains visible.

Biography

Natalia Röckle is a contemporary artist based near Stuttgart, Germany, where she has lived and worked since 2007. She graduated in Fine Art and Design from Freie Kunstschule Stuttgart in 2015. Her work has been exhibited in Germany, including a 2015 group exhibition at Galerie der Stadt Herrenberg and a solo exhibition at Zehntscheune in Heimsheim in 2025.

Working primarily with acrylic, Natalia Röckle explores the space between abstraction and the natural world through color, light, and layered surfaces. Gardens and dense vegetation provide a recurring visual starting point, but her paintings do not describe individual plants or specific places. Instead, she focuses on how forms emerge, overlap, and disappear within a larger field.

Her technique mirrors this process. Natalia builds paintings through successive layers of color, then partially removes, scratches, and exposes earlier passages. What has been covered remains active beneath the surface, creating shifting relationships between depth, texture, and color. Through this process, the garden becomes less a subject than a structure for observing transformation—how perception changes as light, material, and accumulated layers continually reshape what can be seen.
