Presentation

Anad Shyam, was born in 1963, the artist is originally from the region of Madhya Pradesh in India. Coming from the Gond tribe, the artist practices a vernacular art which is characteristic of his tribe, the Pandhar, an art that he interprets in a contemporary style.

His artistic approach is direct, strongly impregnated by tribal art in which he grew up. He uses basic colors (yellow, green and red), typical of the Pandhar. On his bright backgrounds, the artist represents the forest and the animals that live in it, with an approach similar to that of a sacred painting.

One the artist's biggest prides was the sale of one of his pieces to the Indian Prime Minister. His canvases, are part of the Poddar collection, and have been exhibited at the Devi Art Foundation in Delhi and during the exhibition "Other Indian Masters" at the Quai Branly in 2010.
