Biography

Tatyana Filippova, known as Zelotaya, is a Russian‑born artist working across watercolor, oil, and alcohol ink. She completed Fine Arts training with honors in 2000 and studied life drawing in 2002. From 2017–2019 she trained privately with Natalia Stahl in St. Petersburg, followed by a 2021 master class in alcohol ink with Alexander Roshchin. She exhibited at W&P Gallery, Moscow (2020) and painted from life in the studio of Lyubov Biryukova (2020–2022). Since relocating to India, she has moved decisively toward abstraction; in 2023 her works appeared in the short film .

Zelotaya's practice probes the threshold where realism dissolves into abstraction. Liquid media are collaborators: washes bloom, edges breathe, pigments drift. She sets an initial direction and lets flow, gravity, and evaporation refine it a balance of chance and intention. Freedom, motion, and candor anchor the work; recurring motifs: birds, dancers, bodies in motion translate emotion into field and rhythm. She seeks to hold blink‑and‑you‑miss‑it states and slow them on paper so viewers can look longer. Living in India deepened her use of natural materials and her belief that matter carries vital energy. For Filippova, art does not escape reality; it reorganizes it into spaces for attention and quiet recognition.
