“Where classical painting meets speculative vision.”

Biography

Elias Soederberg is an Iceland-based contemporary artist whose practice combines classical oil painting techniques with futuristic visual language. Working in layered oil processes inspired by Old Master methods, he builds luminous surfaces and atmospheric depth through carefully structured glazing and tonal transitions. His approach draws conceptual influence from painters such as J.M.W. Turner, particularly in the use of light, color diffusion, and spatial drama, while translating these traditions into digitally inspired, speculative environments.

Soederberg's compositions often depict surreal landscapes, architectural forms, and imagined ecosystems rendered in saturated gradients and smooth, flowing structures. These futuristic scenes explore themes of technological transformation, altered nature, and evolving human environments. By merging historical craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics, Soederberg creates works that bridge classical painting discipline and forward-looking visual narratives, positioning his practice at the intersection of tradition and speculative art.
