In his magnificent series of works entitled Art Pop Classic, the Italian artist Marco Battaglini brings classical painting into the modern era. Originally from Verona, an Italian city known for the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet, but also for its rich history, art and culture, Battaglini's work is reminiscent of a Renaissance composition with figures and subjects classics that blend into the contemporary urban landscape. Her plays combine classical beauty with vulgar, medieval heroines and modern superheroes.
