Biography
Morena Beltrami was born in Modena, in northern Italy, in January 1965.
Morena Beltrami is an artist deeply attuned to the needs of society and refuses to hide behind the hypocrisies of those who "remain silent and compliant." In her unique, high-quality, and highly expressive works, she succeeds in conveying the feeling of social distress through images.
It is through her painting that Morena exposes and asserts everything she thinks and feels to the rest of the world. In her works, bright, intense color stains fill the spaces of her canvases with a certain frenzy, sometimes evoking raw anger, but her work remains, at the same time, poetic. The colorful shapes that emerge on her canvases may seem abstract or meaningless at first glance, but when it comes to painting, with Morena Beltrami, nothing is ever left to chance.
With the use of colored chalks, oil pastels, and acrylic pens, the images offered by Morena take on a darker tone; the stains transform into demons, cursed characters, and tortured souls. These represent the "cries" of the people, according to the artist, who denounces the morals of contemporary Western society. Morena's technique, far from being monotonous, connects new materials.
Morena Beltrami's works depict a reality that paints a world devoid of meaning, but this critique is often accompanied by biting irony. Through her painting, Morena Beltrami attacks the evils of society. As an engaged woman, Morena fights through her work for more equality.
In 2015, she exhibited at the Royal Gallery in London, and in the same year, she showcased her work at the Kunsthaus Tacheles in Berlin. Since then, she has also exhibited in New York, Stockholm, and London, gradually integrating into the international contemporary art market.
