Biography

Amintore Fanfani (Pieve Santo Stefano, February 6, 1908 - Rome, November 20, 1999) was an Italian politician, economist, historian and academic. 

He was president of the Senate three times, six times president of the Council of Ministers between 1954 and 1987 when, at the age of 79 years and 6 months, he became the oldest head of the government of the Italian Republic, twice secretary of the Christian Democrats and also president of the party, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Interior and Budget and Economic Planning. 

From 1972 he was a senator for life. he followed lessons in art history and drawing by professor and painter Guglielmo Micheli, a pupil of Giovanni Fattori and first teacher of Amedeo Modigliani.
