His creative inspiration? Anything can come to him: a mysterious gaze, the elegance of a lady smoking a cigarette, the charm of a French word, the scent of a vintage perfume, or a porcelain figurine spotted in an antique shop. For Muižnieks, every impulse is an opening to something visual and poetic.

“I think in images, not drawings. And once I start a painting, everything changes," he explains.
He paints on the ground—pouring, dripping, and blending layers of color to form vibrant, lyrical landscapes that speak directly to the senses. His work is often described as visual poetry: expressive, spontaneous, and unexpectedly beautiful.

Since graduating from the Latvian Academy of Fine Arts in 1982, Muižnieks has played a significant role in transforming the local art scene. With over 15 solo exhibitions and over 50 group exhibitions worldwide, he continues to leave a powerful mark on the international art scene.

His paintings have been nominated several times for the prestigious Purvītis Award and are featured in prestigious collections, including:

– The State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow)
– The European Central Bank (Frankfurt)
– The Georgian Museum of Fine Arts (Tbilisi)
– And numerous private collections in Europe and beyond.
