Presentation

RUSE, a virtuosic being whose birth occurred in the month of June in the year 1980 in the historical cradle of Aguascalientes, emerges as a destined figure to transcend in the vast universe of art. Their initial steps in the realm of plastic disciplines were nurtured within the center of arts and crafts of the aforementioned city, a sanctuary that encapsulates creative potential and fosters the cultivation of artistic skills. Subsequently, RUSE embarked on an educational odyssey, immersing themselves in the workshops of painting and sculpture in Montreal, Quebec, where the muses arose in resplendent forms.

The desire to expand their academic horizons and enrich their understanding of the arts led them to enroll in the University of Guanajuato, where they pursued higher studies in Fine Arts. Two years later, destiny guided them to a new abode in the exquisite city of Guadalajara, where they completed their artistic formation, augmenting their repertoire with architectural knowledge. Driven by an unquenchable thirst for refinement, RUSE complemented their artistic mastery with specialized studies in the restoration of graphic works on paper and illustration, imbibing the teachings of the revered Academy of San Carlos and the illustrious Institute of Philological Research at the prestigious National Autonomous University of Mexico.

The luminous creativity of RUSE has radiantly illuminated various exhibition spaces, both individually and collectively, across the vastness of the Mexican Republic as well as the realms of Montreal, Canada, and Rouen, France. Prominent among the venues that have embraced their magnificent works are the Interactive Museum of Economics (MIDE), the Cultural Poliforum Siqueiros, the Raúl Anguiano Museum, and the Benjamin Manzo Gallery, located within the renowned Cultural Institute of Aguascalientes.

The aesthetic style of RUSE unfolds majestically on a canvas that merges figuration with metamorphosis and psychedelia. Within this prodigious artistic cosmos, birds and the human figure dance in a visual symphony to narrate singular tales of everyday life. Their creations, predominantly born through the medium of watercolor and pencils, explore themes ranging from the political and personal to the mundane and mythological. Stylized lines and intense colors interweave harmoniously, forming an artistic language of subversive, introspective, and dissident nature, distanced from the conventions of romanticism.

In addition to their masterful contributions in the realm of plastic arts, RUSE has assumed the honorable role of collaborator with Article 19, undertaking commendable work in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean since 2019. In this noble endeavor, they channel their innate talent to illustrate the pieces that accompany the reports of this influential organization. Their commitment to the defense of freedom of expression and human rights shines through their artistic prowess, bestowing a powerful visual aesthetic upon the messages and testimonies that Article 19 fearlessly and passionately disseminates.
