Shanker Raj Bhatta

Shanker Raj Bhatta began his initiation into the Thangka technique in 2002 with Master Ram Kaji of the Swarga Art Healing School in Bakhtapur, Nepal where he works and teaches himself today.

Thangkas are made under the control of a master artist who teaches this very difficult art, and according to the precise instructions kept in religious books. Everything is perfectly codified and planned, from the pigments used to the proportions of the symbols, and the final consecration of the thangka. It must therefore be drawn accurately and anointed carefully and finely by the artist to embellish it.
