Damilola Adewole

Adewole Oluwadamilola is a Nigerian painter and tapestry crochet artist whose practice sits at the intersection of figurative painting and textile art. A Fine Art graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, trained under Prof. Jacob Jari and Prof. Jerry Buhari, she developed a signature "pixelated" style, building intricate crochet portraits from multi-strand acrylic yarns that push textile beyond its traditional boundaries.
Her practice is driven by a commitment to excavating the interior lives of the African people, exploring identity, resilience, social issues, and the quiet pursuit of wholeness. 

Her current Floral Symbolism Series houses surrealist portraits of African women within bold metaphorical floral forms, using the act of crocheting as social commentary on identity and as a space of solace for mental and personal struggles.

A recipient of the Best in Textile Category (Zaria Region) at the 2025 LIMCAF Competition and the 2025 best graduating Fine Art student, ABU, Zaria, she has exhibited at Popcentral, Lagos, and continues to push the boundaries of crochet as a critical contemporary medium.
