Presentation

Radziejowski was the son of Władysław and Jadwiga, née Kałuska and came from a wealthy landowning family.

In 1874, he began studying painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow with Jan Matejko. He studied there intermittently until 1885, during which he became friends with Ludwik de Laveaux. From 1886 he furthered his knowledge at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts and, after graduating, first stayed in Munich, where he joined the Munich Arts Association. In the mid-1890s he traveled to Kraków to work with painters such as Stanisław Janowski and Władysław Wankie on the design of the Tatra Mountains panorama, destroyed around 1900.

In 1902, the artist decided to return to his native country, and two years later he settled in Trzebienice, a property he inherited from his wife Helena, née Strasburger. From there he often traveled to Krakow to participate in local artistic life. Radziejowski participated in numerous exhibitions of the Warsaw Society for the Promotion of Fine Arts and the Krakow Society for the Promotion of Fine Arts. Other exhibitions of his works were held in Lviv, Poznan, Munich, Berlin, Prague and Vienna.

The Munich School had a major influence on Radziejowski's artistic development. Most of his works are in the style of realism. However, like Witold Pruszkowski and Jacek Malczewski, aquatic nymes, Medusa and other dangerous symbolic figures appear in his works. He mainly created genre paintings depicting country life as well as landscapes and portraits. His paintings are now part of many private collections and important museums.

He died in 1950 in Krakow.
