Biography

Czarnobyl is a Polish-born street artist and stencil pioneer who has been developing his unique visual language for over 20 years. Influenced by Berlin's 90s punk and graffiti scenes, his work explores dystopian themes, societal decay, and emotional isolation. Drawing from personal trauma—including his experience of the Chernobyl disaster—his art critiques broken promises of progress through dark, mutated figures and mechanical forms.

His stencil art merges hyper-detailed machine illustrations with mirrored portraits, creating surreal, almost Rorschach-like compositions. Each layer, overlap, and symmetry contributes to a visual system that feels both industrial and psychological. Czarnobyl's technique challenges traditional street art by blending social commentary with a deeply personal and experimental approach.

Now based in Berlin, Czarnobyl works primarily from photographs, transforming them into complex, portable stencil pieces. With roots in Post-Industrial Art, Dystopian Street Art, and Political Graffiti, his creations speak to a society in crisis. Today, his haunting, futuristic imagery positions him as a key figure in socially engaged contemporary urban art.
