Biography

Bahk Seon Ghi (1966, South Korea) is a renowned artist known for his impressive installations that utilize natural materials such as charcoal in suspended architectural structures. After studying sculpture at Chung-Ang University in Seoul, he continued his training at the Accademia di Belle Arti Brera in Milan and Barnet College in London.

Bahk's art focuses on the relationship between humanity, nature, and architecture. Using transparent nylon threads, he suspends fragments of charcoal to create sculptural installations that exude lightness and precision. His works address the fragility and duality of culture and nature, inviting viewers to question their own perspectives.

His works have been exhibited internationally, including at the Seoul Museum of Art, the Haifa Museum (Israel), and Art Basel. In 2009, his three-dimensional charcoal chandelier garnered considerable attention at Art Dubai. Bahk is a recipient of the Kim Chong Yung Sculpture Award, and his works are included in collections such as the Fondation Louis Vuitton (France) and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Korea).
