Juan José Vicente Ramírez

Juan José Vicente Ramírez is a contemporary Spanish painter celebrated for his evocative maritime scenes, atmospheric interiors, and refined monochromatic compositions. Born in Madrid in 1968, his work is distinguished by a masterful command of chiaroscuro, subtle tonal transitions, and an extraordinary ability to transform simple subjects into deeply emotional visual experiences.

Working primarily in mixed media and oil on canvas, Vicente explores themes of solitude, stillness, memory, and contemplation. Boats, reflections, horizons, and quiet architectural spaces frequently appear throughout his oeuvre, creating poetic metaphors that invite introspection and emotional connection.

In 2015, he was awarded the prestigious 50th Reina Sofía Prize for Painting and Sculpture, organized by the Asociación Española de Pintores y Escultores, one of Spain’s most respected artistic institutions.
