Bronze Sculpture for Sale
Omar Logang is a Sudanese painter born in 1966 in South Sudan, recognized for his luminous landscapes, his portraits, his urban scenes, and his mastery of contemporary figurative painting. Coming from a family of artists, he grew up with his father, a renowned wood sculptor, who introduced him to artistic creation very early on. He pursued his training at the Khartoum School of Fine Arts, where he studied painting and obtained his degree with distinction, before completing his apprenticeship at the School of Fine Arts of Tetouan, Morocco. This dual training, between Sub-Saharan Africa and the Maghreb, nourishes a pictorial language where African artistic traditions meet the influences of European painting.
Following the political conflicts that struck South Sudan, Omar Logang obtained political asylum in Spain in 1993, and then Spanish nationality in 1996. Settled in Madrid, he has spent his time between Spain, Morocco, Mali, and southern France, notably Nice, where he creates many plein air paintings. These travels nourish a work deeply marked by the search for light, changing atmospheres, and Mediterranean landscapes. The artist works mainly in oil on canvas, using generous material and an intense palette of colors, inspired as much by African lands as by European shores.
His work explores landscapes, urban views, architectures, portraits, and human figures, often depicted from behind or with deliberately simplified faces, creating an impression of silence, contemplation, and solitude. This simplification of forms, associated with omnipresent light and an expressive touch, lends a universal dimension to his compositions. Critics highlight the artist's ability to make African pictorial traditions dialogue with the chromatic research of impressionism and contemporary European painting, while developing a deeply personal writing.
Omar Logang has presented many solo exhibitions in galleries in Madrid, where he has been represented for many years, as well as exhibitions in France, notably in Nice, a city whose light is a major source of inspiration. His work is today in private collections in France, Spain, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Russia, and the United States. Through a deeply humanistic painting, Omar Logang establishes himself as a singular figure in contemporary African painting, associating color, light, landscape, portrait, oil on canvas, and emotion in a work where travel, exile, and memory occupy an essential place.
