Jules Courvoisier

Jules-Ami Courvoisier was a leading Swiss painter, illustrator and poster artist, born in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1884. He studied under Charles L'Eplattenier and later trained in Munich and Paris with renowned artists such as Jacques-Émile Blanche and Eugène Grasset. 

In 1912, he settled in Geneva, where he became known for his powerful and expressive posters. His works, often created for cultural, social and political events, include notable pieces such as Mobilisation 1914, the Geneva Motor Show (1926) and various campaigns for the Swiss Red Cross. 

Courvoisier also illustrated books, designed stained glass windows for the churches of Bevaix and Auvernier, and painted landscapes and portraits. He died in Geneva in 1936, leaving an important legacy in Swiss graphic art.
