Wladislaw Safronow

Wlad Safronow, born in 1965 in Kharkiv, Ukraine, is a contemporary painter known for his distinctive visual language, which he defines as a “New Mythology.” He studied at the Academy of Art and Design in Kharkiv from 1984 to 1990, before working as a lecturer in painting and graphic arts from 1990 to 1994.

Since 1995, Safronow has been teaching painting and drawing in Germany, currently serving as a lecturer at the University of Augsburg and at the Künstlergilde Ulm. He has worked as a freelance artist since 1997. In 2015, he established a second studio in Ses Salines, Mallorca, further expanding his international presence.

Over the years, Safronow has developed a unique artistic universe in which figures—whether human, animal, urban, or abstract—are rendered in a highly stylized, atypical manner that appears both archaic and contemporary. His distinctive technique combines elements of classical oil painting with modern structural materials, creating works of remarkable depth and texture.

Safronow’s paintings go beyond purely decorative qualities, inviting viewers into complex, layered compositions rich in symbolism and emotional resonance. His works encourage an intuitive engagement, drawing the viewer into a multifaceted world where hidden meanings, visual rhythms, and subtle narratives unfold. Each piece becomes a space for discovery—an almost metaphysical construct in which color, form, and structure merge into a poetic and immersive experience.
