Biography

Zoobs (real name Zoran Zarre) began his career working as a designer and photographer at a cosmetics company, and his own work is heavily influenced by that environment's theatrical aesthetic.

His portraits of women incorporate props and digital manipulation, though the line between real and artificial is frequently unclear. In the images from “The Gothic Collection", women pose amid cigars and playing cards; tattoos and text adorn their bodies.

In Dream Lover (2003), a woman goes topless except for a pair of suspenders; she wears a bowler hat, while matching tattoos depicting her own face looking out from her biceps. Zoobs received great attention for his photographic collage God Save the Future Queen (2011), in which an aged Kate Middleton is placed against the British flag in a reference to the Sex Pistols' famous album cover.
