Aleksandra Pakhanian

Aleksandra Pakhanian is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist working across painting, photography, and video art. A certified psychologist, improvisational theater performer, and member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia, she creates emotionally charged works that explore self-acceptance, vulnerability, femininity, and the complexity of human inner worlds.

Her artistic language combines surrealism, naive graphics, and expressive symbolism. Drawing from her experience in improvisational theater based on audience stories, Aleksandra transforms emotions, memories, and psychological states into vivid visual narratives. Her works often balance between playfulness and tension, where exaggerated forms, bold color contrasts, symbolic details, and textured surfaces become tools for emotional communication rather than literal storytelling.

At the center of her practice is the belief that imperfection and emotional chaos are essential parts of human identity. Through painting, she creates spaces where vulnerability becomes visible and emotionally transformative. Recurring female imagery, including the symbolic presence of the female body, reflects her ongoing exploration of femininity, self-perception, and personal acceptance.

Aleksandra describes her paintings as “living emotions and feelings” — inner worlds shaped through encounters with people, theater, and personal reflection. Her works invite viewers not simply to observe, but to recognize fragments of themselves within the emotional landscapes she creates.

Alongside her visual art practice, Aleksandra works professionally in photography and has published articles in art publications including Visual Art Journal. Her works have been exhibited internationally in Russia and the United Kingdom, including Restless at Gallery Grounds, London, and Dreams and Nightmares at Boomer Gallery, London.

Aleksandra Pakhanian currently continues to develop projects spanning contemporary painting, photography, and experimental visual storytelling.
