Presentation

Ernest Trova is an American sculptor, born in 1927 in Missouri. After having studied at Clayton then St. Louis University, he decided to embark on an artistic career. He never left the whereabouts of his homeland.

Ernest Trova didn't find it useful to study art. He preferred to rely on his instinct and emotions, to create works. However, he is fascinated by Francis Bacon, Willen DeKooning and Jean Dubuffet, and draws inspiration for his own creations.

Ernest Trova is mainly known for his series of abstract sculptures "Falling Man", which is the end result of his work on Man as a finite being, aware of his mortality and overrun by enslaving technological revolutions.

A versatile artist, Trova varies techniques. His sculptures combine painting, collages, assemblies...He's more interested by forms and outlines rather than colors.

His works are present at the Face Gallery in New York, but also at the Laumeier Sculpture Park.

Ernest Trove passed away in 2009.
