Biography

Born in Caracas in 1991, Andrés Ciccone has established himself as one of the most promising artists on the contemporary scene, a bold heir to the Venezuelan kinetic art movement. His work, at the crossroads of painting, sculpture, and installation, explores the boundaries of visual perception through dynamic and immersive geometric compositions. Trained at the Caracas Academy of Art and Design and later at the Berlin Academy of Arts, Ciccone follows in the footsteps of the great Venezuelan masters of kinetic art, such as Jesús Rafael Soto and Carlos Cruz-Diez. His international experience, spanning Berlin, Lisbon, and New York, has fostered a cosmopolitan and experimental aesthetic. He draws inspiration from the theories of optical and kinetic art, while simultaneously seeking to transcend established conventions.

Ciccone's work is characterized by the use of geometric forms, primary colors, and striking contrasts. He frequently employs black and white as a base, enhanced with red, yellow, and blue, to create effects of vibration and depth. His compositions play with the viewer's perception, offering multiple interpretations depending on the angle of view. By combining painting, sculpture, and installation, Ciccone creates three-dimensional works that challenge the traditional boundaries of art. His creations evoke trompe-l'œil, encouraging the viewer to interact physically and visually with the artwork.

Ciccone has exhibited in renowned galleries and contemporary art fairs, including those in New York, Berlin, and Miami. He participated in group exhibitions such as "Dynamic Intersections" and "Pantone Play" at the Tuleste Factory in 2021. His work is also represented by prestigious galleries such as the Mark Hachem Gallery. By perpetuating the legacy of Venezuelan kinetic art, Andrés Ciccone brings a contemporary and personal vision to this movement. His work questions perception, movement, and the interaction between the artwork and the viewer, offering an immersive and reflective artistic experience.
