Description

Rare Work by This Artist

I am offering this superb colored pencil drawing created by Otto Schade for the mural he painted at NV. Barbers in 2022. (See last photo.) The drawing depicts a royal guard holding a hunting rifle that he blows into. When he blows, he creates a hypnotic music that makes a cobra (crafted from a roll of banknotes) dance out of a basket.

This snake moves to the rhythm of the guard’s music but is sliced and enters the box. From the box, the banknotes spill out.

Created in 2022, dimensions: 30 x 21 cm.

Born in Chile in 1971, OTTO SCHADE is a talented contemporary urban artist and architect based in London. He began creating artwork in 1997, but truly emerged as an urban artist in 2009, after living in London for three years, where he began producing the vibrant art he is known for today.

Otto Schade is renowned for his surrealistic and sometimes abstract figurative paintings, as well as his powerful drawings and street art. He developed a unique and recognizable graphic style, using twisted and interwoven "ribbons" to depict his subjects. He is also known for his orbs, sunsets, and silhouettes that attempt to convey a strong social message. For the past 13 years, Otto has exhibited and painted murals in Europe, America, Africa, and Asia.

Otto Schade's eclectic works can be found on the streets of numerous cities worldwide: Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona, Porto, Luxembourg, Stockholm, Lisbon, Brussels, London, as well as Miami, New York, Moscow, and Santiago. His art can also be admired in various galleries and exhibition centers across Europe.

Presentation

Otto Schade was born in Chile in 1971. He initially studied Architecture at the Bio Bio University and Construction and Design Architecture in Concepcion, Chile. As a successful architect, he has been awarded for public and private projects.

Otto has always felt an avid fascination for the Surrealists, as well as the freedom which surrounds abstract painting. This influence has made Otto turn his creative skills to painting, which has become his strongest passion and for which he has also been recognized with an honorable mention.

With the development of this other talent, Otto begins a journey in the search for new ideas and wider exposure for his work, taking him to exhibit his work in Concepcion (Chile), Berlin (Germany), Moscow (Russia) , New York (US), London (UK), and now in Amsterdam (Netherlands). He lives and works currently in London.

Otto Schade’s painting ranges from abstract and surrealism to even urban art. Working mainly with oil paint and traditional supports such as stretched canvas, he also practices other techniques such as collage, illustration and stencil. The themes behind his compositions read in a personal, metaphorical sense with a sharp, ironic touch.

Otto Schade creates some of the most distinctive street art around. His paintings show a unique style, proving an inventive imagination as well as a refined technique. He’s well known for his depictions of the human form, composed from interwoven ribbons.
