Artist's Inspiration
The inspiration is drawn from the Taoist concept of Lao Tzu, "The greatest sound is soundless" (大音希声), meaning that the most beautiful and powerful sound is silent, and that which reaches the ultimate is intangible. I expressed this as the resonance of all magnificent instruments, where the ear hears only stillness.
Gallery Analysis
This striking artwork depicts the profile of a goddess from classical Chinese mythology contemplating classical music, elegantly fusing realism and surrealism.
Her delicate and detailed hair conceals a complex musical universe, where mythological and floral motifs intertwine, creating a subtle transition between dream and reality. The masterful use of pencil for the contours lends the face a soft and serene quality, while the fantastical elements add dynamism and vitality.
The brilliant gold background contrasts elegantly with the figure's monochrome tones, emphasizing the work's mysterious beauty. The perfect balance between the fineness of the lines and the visual elements attests to remarkable technique, captivating the viewer with its originality and narrative depth. This piece encourages reflection on universal themes such as nature, dreams, and metamorphosis.
