Description
A majestic silhouette is drawn in the darkness. The white line shoots out nervously against a deep black background. This radical contrast emphasizes the stature of a lion captured in a moment of tension.
The gesture is fast. The lines intertwine and scatter to form a wild mane. Paint splatters punctuate the composition, adding an organic dimension to the drawing. A raw, almost electric energy is perceived, which seems to make the surface vibrate.
The animal's gaze, turned towards the horizon, brings a strange serenity to this graphic chaos. Each curve defines the musculature and nobility of the feline. The balance between precision and abandon guides the eye through a network of luminous filaments.
This work plays on transparency and accumulation. The superposition of lines creates a striking visual relief. The fineness of the stroke contrasts with the strength of the subject represented. The whole relies on a minimalist play of light where white alone sculpts the form on the void.
Presentation
Arnaud Florentin is a French painter, born in 1978 in Nancy, aka as Flow, he currently lives and works in Nancy.
Flow joined École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Nancy, and obained his post-graduation in 2003. Artist-performer, it was impossible for Flow to stop living his passion due to his studies: he continued to paint and do graffiti at the same time.
Flow didn't hesitate to try out several techniques, even through he remained quite attached and good at dripping, a technique where he lets the paint flow to create his work. He was quickly discovered due to his colored paintings in 2000's, the singer Nancy Jazz Pulsation, asked him to create the design cover of her album in 2008.
Due to his recurring presence in several contemporary art fairs, Flow became well-known upto Korea. His works are displayed in several galleries and the artist constantly develops and improves his technique by creating unknown faces of celebrities, but also of vanity and urban landscapes.
In 2015, Flow's work was displayed in many galleries in France and abroad, the same year he planned to finalize his visual for the "Solidays" poster.
