Description
The print unfolds in a muted palette. Shades of gray and purple intertwine. The white line draws stylized vegetal silhouettes. These leaves rise like sentinels on a textured background.
The composition plays on marked graphic contrasts. Tight hatching and spirals bring a constant visual rhythm. The dark, striated sky evokes a nocturnal or winter atmosphere. A crescent moon discreetly sketched completes this dreamlike scene.
The technique favors superposition. The grain of the paper dialogues with the deposited material. Each area reveals meticulous work on the density of the pigments. The lines intersect to create an ambiguous depth.
The balance rests on the tension between organic forms and geometric patterns. The eye circulates between the minute details and the broader areas. This creation is presented in the form of a limited edition. The final rendering emphasizes the precision of the technical gesture.
Presentation
Chahab was born in 1951 in Tehran, residing in France since 1974, he lives and works in Nay (Pyrénées-Atlantiques).
Graduated from the Arts décoratifs of Nice, and from the École des Beaux-Arts of Aix-en-Provence, student of Henri Goetz for carburum engraving technique.
Painter, engraver, and sculptor, he plays with registers of various materials and textures. Heir to a dual culture, he likes to evoke through the imagination the ancient sites of his native Iran and during his Western training, his attraction to surrealism leads him to recreate a teeming universe of forms and colors.
