Description
Silver gelatin print on rough paper, mounted on Dibond.Framed in a custom-made black aluminum American box frame.
The pandemic has transformed our relationship with home, revealing the fragility of its connection to security. While lockdowns protected us from COVID-19, they also coincided with a rise in domestic violence in Brazil between 2020 and 2021. This project envisions a space free from all violence, particularly sexist violence, in solidarity with survivors. The images show the white walls of the artist's home, photographed on 35mm film corroded by spices from Brazilian cuisine. These surfaces become a blank canvas for a post-pandemic utopia, where deterioration gives rise to dreamlike landscapes and amorphous forms, bathed in pinkish hues.

Presentation
Her artistic practice explores social issues through experimental photographic techniques, treating analog film as an active and reactive medium to spark a dialogue about photography and its role in society. Her work reshapes visual fragments into layered narratives, reimagining how images are perceived, understood, and remembered.
She obtained her degree in Film and Media from PUC Minas in Belo Horizonte in 2024. Daura currently works as a freelance artist and teaches alternative photographic processes.
