Description

This artwork by Lacriss features a stylized portrait of Elizabeth II, an iconic figure of contemporary history, immersed in a visual universe inspired by street art and urban culture.

At the center of the composition appears the recognizable profile of the Queen, rendered in a graphic style reminiscent of stencil art. The lines are clean and almost monochromatic, reinforcing the emblematic nature of the figure. Her hair, arranged in a bun, and the elegance of her posture immediately evoke the timeless and official imagery associated with Elizabeth II.

Surrounding this portrait, Lacriss unfolds a vibrant chromatic explosion: bright yellow, electric blue, pink, red, and turquoise intertwine through layered painterly gestures. Drips, splashes, and raw textures recall urban walls marked by graffiti and overlapping posters. These superimposed layers create a powerful contrast between the classical dignity of the royal figure and the raw energy of the surrounding environment.

The treatment of the material — combining bold color fields, brush strokes, and paint projections — gives the piece a strong sense of movement and spontaneity, typical of contemporary urban aesthetics. In places, abstract forms and graphic marks appear like fragments of handwriting or graffiti tags.

Through this juxtaposition of a royal icon and the visual language of street art, Lacriss plays with the codes of popular culture. The artwork transforms a historical figure traditionally associated with stability and tradition into a pop and urban symbol, reinterpreted through the expressive freedom of contemporary art.

The result is a visually powerful piece where royal heritage meets the rebellious energy of the street, highlighting the ability of urban art to reinvent the icons of our collective memory.

Presentation

Born in Rome in April 1990, LACRISS makes art an instinctive necessity: a reality that has always belonged to her. Since her school years, drawing has appeared as a natural calling: she remembers never leaving home without a pencil in her pocket, like a talisman.
When she grew weary of the drabness of the buildings or felt out of sync with the rhythm of a conversation, she would take it out to draw and give form to her thoughts, even creating entire imaginary cities on the edges of newspapers and napkins. This pencil was her shield against the banality of the world and proof that, as long as she had a mark to leave, she would have a reality to inhabit. This absolute passion has now blossomed into a defined profession.
Inspired by urban culture, street art, and photography, her work has carved out a place for itself in the contemporary art scene with a visceral and original style. LACRISS develops a confident and instinctive language on canvas, where paint drips, bold acrylic brushstrokes, and layers of spray paint stain the surface in a harmonious chaos. The use of mixed media—charcoal, pencils, markers, and inks—generates vibrant and colorful works that exude the energy of the street, while maintaining a monumental presence.
