Description
This artwork presents a subtle composition in shades of black and white, evoking a misty landscape. The diluted ink strokes create a hazy effect, suggesting natural forms such as trees or distant hills. The negative space and blurred outlines reinforce an impression of vastness and mystery. Presentation
A graphic designer by training, Sylvie Duval studied drawing and painting from 2002 to 2015 at the workshops of the City of Paris with Jürgen Stimpfig, Lise Sainte Claire Deville, Didier Pikkety, Isabelle Geoffroy-Dechaume and in Fontainebleau with Bruno Arri.
Particularly sensitive to the painting of William Turner, that of the old Chinese masters or more recently of Serge Saunière and Alexandre Hollan to name a few, she most often works in wash, in India ink or in gouache, in monochrome.
With an infinity of nuances, between shadow and light, paint or ink mixed with water give birth to landscapes, real or imaginary.
Between abstraction and figuration, it is nature and the landscape that inspire her, they are a starting point for a more personal work that she restores in the privacy of her studio.
