Thierry Clamens

Wood, canvas or metal, car hoods, Thierry CLAMENS works with mixed techniques on all supports. Self-taught painter, his universe is urban. The artist walks the sidewalks of an imaginary city that he stages. His work is performance, collages, graffiti, cabalistic signs, diverted objects, materials and colors abound, giving off an intense impression of freedom.

Concepts, symbols, associations of ideas give birth to and respond to each other. The artist practices automatic writing; over the images, sensations, he imagines a pictorial language of astonishing modernity whose syntax nevertheless refers to memory. His representations are labyrinths, the gaze goes from one to the other, he seeks the codes, the meanings, the secret lines, this poetry inscribed in everyday life that too often the conventional and the reason ignore.

The plastic of Thierry CLAMENS is similar to "Street-Art", it takes possession of the walls. Aesthetic and social interpellations, questions about our consumer society and our way of being ..., it is known to us and yet it apostrophes us on several levels of consciousness. His representations teem with inventions, they look, in a timeless way, like an Art and Essay film. Acting like a mirror, they keep us awake, captivate us; no one can remain indifferent to it!
