Description
2020 IV – 2 is a textile artwork by Christiane Maurer from her series 2020 IV.
Through a simple square motif, the artist explores interactions between cold colours, like blue, and warm colours, such as red. Her hand-woven pieces, created on a loom, reveal complex colour transitions and combinations using abstract geometric patterns and intersecting coloured lines.
Christiane Maurer combines traditional weaving techniques with digital design, planning her pieces on the computer before transposing them into a weaving draft. The work is then meticulously woven and stretched on a wooden frame, a process that can take several months from concept to completion.
