The painting “In Anticipation" by the renowned Ukrainian artist Valeriy Bulat, inspired by Alexandre Dumas's "The Three Musketeers," masterfully captures a moment of calm and reflection. Seated in an ornate, stately chair, the subject—a figure of nobility and resolve—exudes a serene confidence while holding a glass of wine. His relaxed posture contrasts with the sharp presence of the sword nearby, suggesting that this pause is temporary, a moment of rest before action resumes.
Bulat's intricate attention to detail—the folds of the richly textured clothing, the warmth of the room's furnishings, and the soft light filtering through the window—imbues the scene with an air of quiet elegance. The carefully placed hat in the foreground and the muted yet vibrant palette reflect both comfort and readiness.
Through this work, the artist expresses themes of anticipation and the delicate balance between action and reflection. The painting evokes a timeless appreciation for honor, patience, and the human moments that exist between battles—reminding viewers that even the bravest warriors find moments of repose.

A special place in Valery's work is occupied by a retrospective series of paintings inspired by the novel by A.
